Drosera capensis x aliciae
The classic cross between D. capensis and D. aliciae, using the typical form of capensis rather than the wide-leaf variant. Nicknamed "capiciae" among growers. Both parents are among the most widespread and easiest sundews in cultivation, and the hybrid inherits that temperament. Compared to the wide-leaf cross, this one leans more towards the aliciae side: a flatter, more prostrate habit with leaves that splay outward rather than standing upright.
Both parents grow across the Western Cape of South Africa. D. capensis in marshes and along stream banks, D. aliciae higher up on sandstone escarpments and peaty seepage sites. Their ranges overlap enough that this cross can occur in the wild.
Spreading, prostrate rosettes with leaves that radiate outward and lie flat or arc gently over the pot edge. Longer-leaved than D. aliciae but much flatter than a typical capensis. Green to yellow-green with vivid red tentacles and generous dew. Vigorous and forgiving.
